Guitar anatomy
A guitar is made up of 5 main parts. These are the head, neck, body, frets, and bridge. The head is the top of the guitar. The neck is the long skinny part. The body is the large lower part of the guitar. The frets are what the strings rest on and the bridge is what holds the bottom of the strings.
Going into more detail, there are the tuning keys that are used raise and lower the pitch of the strings. Below the neck is the nut which guides and holds the strings in place. There are the strings themselves, and the fret markers which are used as an aid for the guitarist to know where specific chords are. On an electric guitar there are pickups on the body, and above the bridge. These convert sound into electrical signals for amplification. Then there are two knobs on the body that are generally volume and tone controls. There are strap buttons on some guitars in case a guitarist wants to use a strap. Finally, there is the input jack where an electric guitar hooks up to an amp.
